Sisterhood

Ladies Auxiliary of Moses Montefiore has been helping our community and congregation for over 100 years. We simply now call ourselves “Sisterhood”. Our purpose is to support the religious school, outreach to our members and to help in all Congregational activities.

Sisterhood are members of Moses Montefiore Congregation. We encourage anyone to get involved with sisterhood as much or as little as time allows. Sisterhood warmly welcomes all new members to join our organization. We aid in charitable work in our community and wherever else help is needed in helping our fellow Jews. Sisterhood organizes families to host the Friday night Oneg Shabbats and we encourage attending religious services.

Meetings are normally held 6 times a year and dues are collected each New Year. Activities include Oneg for Erev Rosh Hashanah, Break-the-fast meal at the conclusion of Yom Kippur, supporting the religious school with Hannukah and Purim festivities and the Bi-Annual Art Auction fund-raiser showcasing local artists. We are also active in maintaining the kitchen with needed tools and gadgets. We spread “sunshine” by sending our members good wishes on birthdays, anniversaries and get well wishes when needed. We support our synagogue financially through our fundraising efforts and are always open to new ideas!
