On behalf of the entire membership of the Moses Montefiore Congregation, thank you for your interest in the Jewish community of the Fox Cities and our synagogue.
Our Appleton synagogue is an egalitarian, conservative congregation. We provide religious and spiritual support for our members, people who vary greatly in their religious backgrounds and levels of Jewish education. We attempt to provide a level of religious support that meets the needs of this diverse membership.
Our Friday night services are at 7:30 pm except once a month we have Friday Family Service at 6:45. Family Service coincides with Rabbi Katz’s second Shabbat of the month.
Saturday morning is at 9:30 with Torah services 1-2 times a month and a small service or Torah study on the other Saturdays. Our synagogue offers services and traditional events for most Jewish holidays.
Consult the calendar to confirm dates and times of services and events.
Events for week of September 15, 2019
We cordially invite you and your family to attend services as our guests. You will find them to be warm and highly participatory. Our synagogue is located at 1620 N. Meade Street in Appleton, Wisconsin. Friday Night services (mostly in English) last about an hour. Following the service is an Oneg where you can meet many of our members. Shabbat morning services (a more traditional Hebrew service) at our synagogue usually last two hours. A Kiddush follows these services. We have an active Sisterhood, Men’s Club and adult education program, as well as a flourishing Sunday/Hebrew School. You are welcome to attend any of our events and see for yourself why we are so proud of our Appleton synagogue.
Should you decide to become members, be reassured that our “Fair Share” dues system will allow you to join at a rate which fits your income and needs.
